April 11th to 13th 2008

Held at Tottington High School

Laurel Street, Tottington, Bury

The Ramsbottom Music Festival is a registered charity  No.1102099 and

is affiliated to the British & International Federation of Festivals

Welcome

The Festival at Tottington High school was very successful, with a very high standard of playing in all the various classes. We were delighted to have many new faces in the vocal, string, piano and woodwind classes. It was disappointing that the only Ramsbottom school to enter, Peel Brow, had to withdraw due to the ill-health of the teacher. Nevertheless the four schools that did appear gave exciting and varied performances to a high standard. We were sorry that the schools from Lancashire were unable to come due to the different Easter holidays and we believe that the Ramsbottom schools were unable to come due to committment to the Bury Sings concert in which they were involved.

We presented a Gala Festival Concert on Saturday 19th April at Tottington High School. At the concert were many of the winners from the Festival and there were presentations of Special Awards to those whom our professional adjudicators thought showed special promise. The Special Awards and accompanying trophies were presented by our President Mr Ronald Frost B.Mus., F.R.M.C.M., F.R.C.O., F.R.S.C.M., F.R.S.A., Hon. F.G.S.M., Hon. F.N.M.S.M.
